About me

Hi, my name is Ruth. I live in Asheville, North Carolina with my husband, 2 step kids and chocolate lab. I moved here in 2016 and love to spend time outside hiking and cold plunging!

I started practicing yoga in my early 20s and couldn't imagine what my life would be like if i didn't have this guide post to keep me on track to living a healthy, balanced life. I started practicing yoga because a friend brought me to a class and I thought it would be a great workout. I was right and then found, as many of us do so much more to benefit from the practice.

I’ve taught 1,000s of classes since I was first certified in 2013. My first training included 6am chanting and meditation 6 days a week for 8 weeks. I then  took a training in vinyasa yoga which is where I found my passion and hit my stride. I’ve taught in rehabs, spas, wellness centers, offices, gyms, mountain tops, beaches, yoga studios, a salt cave, on retreats, in private homes to brand new students and experienced practitioners.

My ares of interest in teaching are creative sequences, heart felt themes, smart alignment and empowering cuing.

My teaching philosophy is listening to your body, taking what we do on the mat out into the world, that everyone is welcomed and your body is perfect just the way it is. Nothing needs to change and you have everything you need inside of you. I also believe in the power of connecting and community and always try to cultivate friendships in the yoga room.

I love to teach power yoga, vinyasa flow, flow and yin, yoga nidra and meditation.

Students can expect my class to be challenging, inspired by a theme, hear a fun playlist, learn about your body and feel better on the way out then when you walked in. Alignment cues and anatomy, instruction, alignment will also be emphasized and celebrated.

Another speciality i have in the yoga world is kids yoga. I lead kids yoga teacher trainings and love to bring the healing powers of yoga to the real yogis- the playful, present youth.

Ruth loves to read (book recommendations are always welcome), hike, and spend quality time with her lab. She loved to move her body at local gyms and is interested in strength training, pilates, barre and weight lifting. She volunteers with Big Brother Big Sister of North Carolina and supports other local non-profits. Teachers karma yoga at a children's grief camp each summer.
